Body Liberation Styling: Overcoming the Final Stages of Eating Disorder Recovery with IFS
This specialized service is designed for individuals recovering from eating disorders who are ready to embrace their authentic selves and rebuild their relationship with clothing and self-expression. Using a trauma-informed approach and integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) frameworks, I create a safe, empowering space to help you step into the final stages of your recovery with confidence and self-compassion. Please note that this service is a supportive tool and cannot alone guarantee recovery from an eating disorder. It is intended to complement therapeutic and medical treatment plans.
What This Package Includes
1. Comprehensive Consultation (60 minutes)
We begin with an in-depth conversation to explore your recovery journey, current relationship with clothing, and personal style goals. During this session, I will use IFS tools to help you identify and connect with any inner parts that may hold beliefs about your body or appearance. This will provide insight into barriers you may face when dressing and shopping, setting a compassionate tone for our work together.
2. Closet Reconnection Session (2 hours)
This session focuses on creating a wardrobe that feels aligned with your body’s current state and your emotional well-being. Using IFS principles, I will:
- Guide you in recognizing and addressing any protective or critical parts that arise during the decluttering process.
- Support you in rediscovering pieces that bring joy and comfort while nurturing your self-acceptance.
- Facilitate self-compassion practices to create a sense of safety and ease as we organize your wardrobe for daily empowerment.
3. Personal Shopping Experience (Optional: 2 hours)
If you feel ready, I will guide you through a shopping experience that incorporates IFS techniques to:
- Recognize and soothe parts that may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or self-critical in a retail environment.
- Foster a connection with your more confident, creative parts as you explore clothing that aligns with your authentic self.
- Reinforce mindful shopping practices to reduce stress and encourage self-compassion.
4. Styling for Empowerment (2 hours)
During this session, we’ll create personalized outfit combinations from your existing wardrobe and any new pieces. I will:
- Work with you to identify inner parts that influence how you perceive yourself in different outfits and support a balanced perspective.
- Encourage the development of a nurturing internal dialogue as we build outfits that feel empowering and aligned with your style goals.
- Capture outfits in a personal lookbook to serve as a visual reminder of your progress and self-expression.
5. Emotional Support and Follow-Up (30 Days)
Recovery is a journey, and I’ll be with you every step of the way. During the follow-up period, I will:
- Offer ongoing support via email to address any parts-related challenges or questions that arise.
- Provide tools and techniques to help you continue integrating IFS practices into your daily styling routines.
- Host a follow-up call (30 minutes) to reflect on your progress and explore next steps in your recovery and wardrobe journey.

Why This Package Matters
For many in recovery, clothing can be a powerful tool for healing. This package is not about conforming to trends or external expectations—it’s about helping you:
- Rebuild trust with your body and its evolving needs.
- Cultivate self-worth and body respect through the lens of personal style.
- Create a wardrobe that feels safe, functional, and expressive of your true self.
With my background as a body relationship coach, licensed body image workshop facilitator, and fashion professional, I understand the complexities of recovery and the transformational role clothing can play in reclaiming your identity. By incorporating IFS practices, we’ll also explore the inner parts of yourself that may influence your relationship with clothing and self-expression. Let’s take this empowering step together.
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz in the 1980s. It is based on the finding that the mind is made up of multiple "parts," each with its own perspective and role. These parts are formed when we need to act in ways to protect ourselves from pain or help us function through traumatic experiences, but they can sometimes create challenges when they begin to conflict with other parts, or carry burdens from past experiences.
At the core of IFS is the belief in a compassionate "Self" part that can help heal and harmonize these parts through dialogue, and by giving them more constructive roles to play in supporting your overall well-being.
Research has shown IFS to be effective in addressing a range of mental health challenges, including eating disorders. Studies indicate that IFS helps individuals develop self-compassion, reduce internal conflicts, and foster greater emotional resilience—all of which are vital for recovery. By working with parts that hold critical or protective roles, IFS provides a framework for understanding and transforming deeply rooted beliefs about the body and self-worth. For more information, I highly recommend Dr. Richard Schwartz's book, "No Bad Parts".
